Music & HymnsInfant Holy, Infant Lowly

"She gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn." Luke 2:7

Words: Traditional carol; translated from Polish to English by Edith Margaret Gellibrand Reed, 1921.

Music: "W Zlobie Lezy" (He Lies in the Cradle), Polish carol; arranged by Edith M. G. Reed

Infant holy, Infant lowly, for His bed a cattle stall;
Oxen lowing, little knowing, Christ the Babe is Lord of all.
Swift are winging angels singing, noels ringing, tidings bringing:
Christ the Babe is Lord of all.

Flocks were sleeping, shepherds keeping vigil till the morning new
Saw the glory, heard the story, tidings of a Gospel true.
Thus rejoicing, free from sorrow, praises voicing, greet the morrow:
Christ the Babe was born for you.
